A beautiful piece of abstract contemporary stained glass added to a kitchen to provide a special feature lit from behind to add colour, a great contrast to white kitchen cupboards.
We are at the Surface Design Show this week so have been so busy. We are introducing our new technique 'Winderlite' and it has been very exciting with lots of positive comments. We are all feeling very happy.
A stained glass window
Stained glass windows come in many shapes and sizes colours and forms. Each can be made for you to celebrate where you want to put a window. Sealed into a double glazed unit, stained glass can now be as warm and safe as any other window in your house. This is all before you have the pleasure of a beautiful piece of stained glass in your house. At this time of year, when it cold outside, stained glass can bring some warm glowing colours into your house or office. It is definitly time for a new window!
Today is not quite as bright as it could be so a bit of colour is needed. I have chosen this photo from a lamp I have. It has a great warm glow and that feeling of drawing you towards the centre of the star. As we move into Autumn the colours in the trees around me echo these warm colours. As I walk the dog I see than gradual change of leaves to the yellows, reds and browns of a glorious Autumn. It is also the glow of a fire and there is nothing nicer at this time of year than a real fire with all the smells of burning wood and the flames dancing around the fire. The fire also shares those autumn colours and together they all try to warm and cheer us as we head into the colder and darker months of winter.
Detail of a window made specifically for the dinning room of a primary school. Lots of ideas were were given by the pupils, teachers, staff and parents. It is one of those projects where lots of people feel they own a part of the completed work and in that way it can sometimes be a much more difficult project. This project was a great success and many people said how great that window is in the school, sometimes not knowing who made the window!
Author - Today I thought I should write about myself, the author, the chattering person. I have been surrounded by Stained Glass since I met Matthew, married him had three children and had my own career throughout. But I am now on a mad break, doing a Phd, studying new media, working part-time and having my first dog. So I am also writing the stained glass blog and having a great time being part of the studio team.
