A bit about me and my Studio I fell in love with the beauty of stained glass back in 1979, when my Cousin Kathie from Toronto came to visit. She brought some tools and glass with her and showed me the rudiments of the craft, After she left I continued playing with this wonderful medium. and here I am 43 years on, and still enthralled by the beauty and the possibilities of glass. I soon realised that nearly every Victorian and Edwardian building had some stained or leaded glass in it, and I started dreaming about how I could help homeowners replace the missing stained glass that was blown out during the war or like in our own home had it taken out and replaced with a sheet of obscured glass. Since those early days, I have had the pleasure of creating and restoring the most amazing array of stained and leaded glass, in all shapes and sizes, in doors and windows, in rooflights and partitions. I have worked in some amazing Churches, places of worship, stately homes, universities, and hospitals- as well as pubs, clubs restaurants etc. But the place I enjoy working most is within the home. Because my work is driven by the desire to help my customers enjoy their homes every day. The variety, and expressiveness of this illuminated art form is the thing that drives me to create. It is a combination of Art, Craft, Science, and technology. I use these elemental principles to expand not just the artistic ways that stained glass can be used, but also how it can be made to conform to both building regulations (safety and thermal efficiency etc) whilst at the same time satisfying the needs of conservation and planning officers caring for listed buildings. |
Winderlite- Stained Glass re-invented. I have In recent years invented a totally new way of working with glass that brings it bang up to date with modern architecture and lifestyles. By working on multi layers of glass and often without the use of lead work. I produce "Winderlite" my very own brand of stained glass, that can be made in large and small toughened glass double and triple glazed units, and can be used to express light colour and personality into any architectural space. It is a hugely exciting medium and has expanded enormously my ability to enhance peoples lives through it's beauty. When it comes right down to it, Stained glass in all it's forms has a unique power in the way light passes through it, and has the ability to enhance our joy. you can find out more about Winderlite at www.winderlitebox.com |
